SAVING TIME AND COSTS IN INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION This Panel will examine the relevance of institutional arbitration in ensuring efficient arbitration and consider: (i) the use of expert witnesses and its increasing relevance to India related arbitrations; (ii) the use of procedures such as the expedited procedure; (iii) the importance of the SIAC Panel and SIAC’s process of appointment of arbitrators; and (iv) other techniques to achieve efficiency: use of technology, hot-tubbing experts, use of costs orders and other sanctions.
