Notice to Arbitrators, Counsel and Parties on the SIAC 2007 Rules Review
The SIAC Rules Committee is undertaking a full review of the current rules. We accordingly invite you to share your views and experience on the use and application of the SIAC 2007 Rules.
Please respond by e-mail addressed to marishamiranty@siac.org.sg by August 13th and we will collate your views for consideration by the Rules Committee.

SIAC WINS BID TO HOST THE CONFERENCE OF THE INTERNATIONAL COUNCIL FOR COMMERCIAL ARBITRATION (“ICCA”) IN 2012
On 30th May 2009, the SIAC delegation led by SIAC Deputy Chairman Sundaresh Menon SC attended the ICCA Council in Vienna and successfully presented a bid to host the ICCA Conference in Singapore in 2012. It will be the first time since 2004 that the ICCA Conference will be held in Asia.
The ICCA Council comprises 42 members and 17 advisory members from 32 different countries who are recognised experts in the field of dispute resolution.
The award of ICCA’s 2012 Conference to Singapore is recognition by the international arbitration community of the quality of Singapore’s standing as a preferred arbitration venue and the SIAC’s reputation as a dynamic and credible arbitral institution. It is also testimony to the trust placed in Singapore and SIAC to deliver a well-organised conference that will raise awareness and knowledge of international arbitration in Asia and beyond.
The Conference will be hosted at the stunning Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort and is expected to attract more than 500 participants from around the world.
We at the SIAC are grateful for the opportunity to host the ICCA 2012 Conference and are looking forward to welcoming the dispute resolution community to our vibrant and cosmopolitan city.

SIAC introduces Revised Practice Note for UNCITRAL Cases effective 6 April 2009. This Practice Note applies to all cases submitted to the SIAC for administration under the UNCITRAL Rules on or after 6 April 2009.

New Practice Note for SIAC Administered Cases
SIAC introduces revised Practice Note for SIAC Administered Cases effective 1 April 2009. This replaces previous Practice Notes on Appointment of Arbitrators for Administered Cases (PN-01/07) and Ad Hoc Cases (PN-02/07).

Conference - Transnational Perspectives on Arbitration
The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) will be joining hands with the Association of Corporate Lawyers (ACL), Sri Lanka to organise a one-day conference titled “Transnational Perspectives on Arbitration”. The conference will be held at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka on Saturday, 27 June 2009.
The event will see participation from arbitration practitioners and lawyers from the Indian subcontinent, South-East Asia and beyond. It seeks to provide an excellent opportunity for international lawyers and arbitrators to network with members of the Sri Lankan legal and business communities. The Singapore Corporate Counsel Association (SCCA) and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators (SIArb) will be supporting organisations to the conference.

Appointment of SIAC’s New Board of Directors
The Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) appoints nine leading arbitrators and arbitration counsel to its new Board of Directors for a term of 2 years, with effect from 1 March 2009. The new Board members include Professor Michael Pryles (Chairman), Mr Sundaresh Menon (Deputy Chairman), Mr Cavinder Bull, Mr Pierre Yves-Gunter, Mr David W. Rivkin, Mr John Savage, Ms Judith Gill, Ms Pallavi S. Shroff and Mr Byung-Chol Yoon.
