Since 1991, the SIAC has sought to promote both professionalism and competence in the administration of arbitration. In keeping with this initiative, the SIAC has set minimum standards for applicants for admission to the international and regional panels as well as the reserve list of SIAC arbitrators.

These standards are intended to ensure that SIAC arbitration remains at the forefront of international and domestic arbitration by accepting to the international and regional panels only qualified persons who are leaders in their respective professional / academic fields and who have the benefit of years of experience while allowing developing practitioners to gain the valuable experience needed on the reserve list.

The measures are to ensure that the standards of the arbitrators who deal with arbitrations under the auspices of the SIAC are kept high. Further, the parties who come to the SIAC for dispute resolution are guaranteed the most competent and knowledgeable arbitrators to deal with their disputes.
