In Memoriam

It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of Raihaniah Faizal (Rai), our Case Management Officers Team Leader, who passed away on 26 July 2011. She was 31.

We lost much more than a colleague in Rai. She was a dear friend to all of us at SIAC. Rai was intelligent, dedicated and conscientious. She was a great Case Management Officer and an able Team Leader. More than that, she was a good soul. She was always warm, kind and generous. We will miss her terribly.

Rai leaves behind her husband and two daughters aged three and two.

SIAC's 20th Anniversary Gala Dinner

SIAC will be celebrating its 20^th anniversary by hosting a charity Gala dinner on May 30^th at the Shangri-La Hotel, Singapore aid of the Red Cross Japan Disaster 2011 Fund.

There will be a charity auction and we have also arranged for a special performance by Singapore’s leading Jazz pianist Jeremy Monteiro.

Chelva Rajah SC, Director of SIAC, Appointed to Commonwealth Secretariat Arbitral Tribunal
21 June 2011, Singapore

Chelva Rajah SC, a Director of Singapore International Arbitration Centre (“SIAC”) and head of M/s Tan Rajah & Cheah’s dispute resolution team, has been appointed by the Commonwealth Secretariat, as a member of its Arbitral Tribunal. Mr Rajah is the first Singaporean to be appointed to the Tribunal and will serve on the panel for a term of four years.

The Korean Translation of the SIAC 2010 Rules is now available.

SIAC would like to thank Sunkyung Shin and Jihye Hong of Shin & Kim in Seoul for translating the 2010 Rules.

SIAC Appoints Two New Board Members from India and China

Professor Michael Pryles, Chairman of Singapore International Arbitration Centre, is pleased to announce that Mr Nishith Desai and Ms Ariel Ye have been appointed to serve on the SIAC Board of Directors. Mr Desai and Ms Ye are leading international arbitration practitioners from India and China which are SIAC’s leading markets and their expertise will compliment the depth and breadth of experience within the SIAC Board.
