Why SIAC
The objectives of YSIAC are:

1.
To be a forum for young professionals (aged 40 years and under) to exchange expertise, ideas and experience in international arbitration

2.
To provide a platform for young professionals interested in alternative dispute resolution in Asia and worldwide to network among like-minded peers and to build mentoring relationships between young professionals and experienced practitioners

3.
To offer a hands-on way to learn more about SIAC as an institution and its arbitration rules and procedures

4. To promote the use of arbitration and other forms of alternative dispute resolution to young professionals and business advisers, both regionally and internationally, by:

a.
Working with legal, business and educational organisations and other groups of young arbitrators to organise events;

b.
Encouraging members to write articles on arbitration-related issues for publication on the SIAC website and in SIAC publications;

c.
Establishing and maintaining a YSIAC affiliate blog on the Kluwer Arbitration Blog and exercising editorial control over the content of such blogs.

Avinash’s practice encompasses a broad spectrum of commercial and corporate disputes. melissa_thng Melissa is a partner at Dentons Rodyk & Davidson LLP's Litigation & Arbitration Practice Group. In this regard, she has acted for and advised a wide range of companies and individuals, both local and international, in a diverse range of disputes in the Singapore courts and in arbitration. She has acted as counsel in arbitrations convened under the rules of the SIAC, ICC and UNCITRAL, as well as arbitration-related court proceedings.

Her practice comprises matters of contract, tort, international trade, insolvency, shipping and aviation, with a particular focus on corporate and shareholder disputes, equity and trusts. holly_blackwell Holly Blackwell specializes in international dispute resolution, construction, and foreign investment matters. Holly advises Chinese and foreign clients in disputes concerning their investments in China and abroad. She has represented clients in disputes subject to arbitration under the rules of the CIETAC, ICC, HKIAC, SHIAC, SIAC, and UNCITRAL. She has assisted clients with enforcement of their foreign and Chinese arbitral awards in China and abroad. Her practice includes advising Chinese and foreign clients on China-related US litigation.

Holly’s practice extends to assisting owners, contractors, and engineering firms on all stages of their construction projects in China and abroad. She also advises on compliance matters under the US FCPA, Chinese anti-bribery laws, and international trade laws as well as internal corporate investigations.

Holly joined King & Wood Mallesons as a Foreign Legal Consultant in November 2010.

Holly received her J.D. from Villanova University School of Law with honors in 2010, where she was a member of the Villanova Law Review. jonathan_lim Jonathan Lim is a Senior Associate with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr (WilmerHale) in London. His practice focuses on complex international disputes. He has represented governments and private corporations in commercial and investment arbitrations under all major arbitration rules in in common law and civil law jurisdictions across Africa, Asia and Europe. Jonathan has been appointed as sole and party-appointed arbitrator in proceedings seated in Germany and Singapore. He has also advised governments in Africa and Asia on a range of public international law issues and the drafting of arbitration legislation. He also has experience with arbitration-related court proceedings and proceedings before the European Court of Human Rights.

Jonathan is Co-Chair of the Asia-Pacific Forum on International Arbitration, and serves on the YSIAC Committee, the SIAC Users Council (UK), and the CIArb Young Members Group Committee (London and SE). He is also a member of the New York Convention Task Force for the Federal Government of Somalia, and a member of the Task Force formed by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development to establish an East African arbitration centre in Djibouti.
